My Personal List: The 10 Most Breathtaking Beaches on Earth

Hello, discerning traveler! Are you ready to dive into a world where every detail matters and every experience is a dream come true? Welcome to Luxury Travel Expert, your personal companion in the quest for the extraordinary. For years, I’ve journeyed to the far corners of the globe, seeking out destinations that don’t just meet expectations but redefine them. This isn’t just information; it’s your key to unlocking the most incredible luxury adventures the world has to offer.

Today, I want to share something very personal: my definitive list of the beaches that have truly stolen my heart. Imagine sand that feels like silk beneath your feet, waters so clear they almost hurt your eyes, and landscapes that look like they’ve been lifted from a masterpiece painting. I’ve walked countless shores, and these are the ten that have left a permanent mark on my soul.

My Handpicked Guide to Paradise’s Shores

Beauty is subjective, of course, and creating a “best of” list is always a challenge. But after years of exploration, these are the destinations that I believe represent the absolute pinnacle of coastal perfection. This is my personal selection of the 10 best beaches on the planet, based on my own experiences. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, of course, but I promise these will make you daydream!

A tranquil luxury resort pool overlooking a stunning tropical beach, embodying the perfect exclusive getaway.

10. Thailand

Yes, it’s famous—sometimes too famous. But I promise you, there are still pockets of absolute peace to be found here. It’s an eden of white sand, turquoise waters, and dramatic limestone karsts. While mass tourism has touched some areas, islands like Phi Phi still hold hidden gems. The real magic, in my opinion, lies with the luxury resorts that offer immaculate, private beaches. That’s where you’ll find true tranquility.

  • When to Go: November to February is the cooler, drier season. I’d advise avoiding the rainy season from July to October if you want guaranteed sunshine!
  • My Recommended Luxury Resorts: Soneva Kiri, Four Seasons Samui, Banyan Tree Samui, Amanpuri, Trisara, Banyan Tree Phuket, Six Senses Yao Noi, Anantara Phuket, and Conrad Samui.

9. The Philippines

With over 7,000 islands, choosing just one spot is nearly impossible! But if I have to pick, El Nido in Palawan is a dream. Think fine, powdery sand, crystal-clear water, towering cliffs, and hidden waterfalls. It’s the kind of raw, untamed beauty that leaves you utterly breathless and feeling like you’ve discovered a secret world.

  • When to Go: The dry season from January to May is your best bet. From May to October, the rains arrive, and be mindful of typhoon season from June to November.
  • My Recommended Luxury Resorts: Amanpulo, Shangri-La Boracay, and Dedon Island.

8. The Pacific Northwest (USA & Canada)

Don’t come here looking for palm trees! This is a different kind of beach paradise—wild, majestic, and profoundly moving. I’m talking about places like Second Beach in Olympic National Park or Long Beach in Pacific Rim National Park. They are damp, moody, and perfect for getting lost among temperate rainforests and spotting whales just offshore. It’s a soul-stirring experience.

  • When to Go: July and August offer the best chance for sun and less rain. However, if you love the drama of a good winter storm, that’s a spectacular time to visit!
  • My Recommended Luxury Resorts: Long Beach Lodge, Wickaninnish Inn, and Clayoquot Wilderness Resort.

7. Queensland, Australia

Australian beaches are in a league of their own! Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsundays, with its pure silica sand that feels like silk, is a natural wonder you have to see to believe. For the adventurous spirit, Seventy-Five Mile Beach on Fraser Island is a haven for 4×4 driving and incredible wildlife encounters. It’s rugged luxury at its finest.

  • When to Go: April to October (the Australian winter) brings plenty of sun and very little rain.
  • My Recommended Luxury Resorts: Qualia Great Barrier Reef and One&Only Hayman Island.

6. Cape Town, South Africa

The “Mother City” truly has it all. You can find incredible beaches just a stone’s throw from the city center, all set against the iconic backdrop of Table Mountain. From the family-friendly waters of False Bay to the glamorous Atlantic sands of Camp’s Bay and Clifton, there’s a perfect spot for every mood and moment.

  • When to Go: The warm, dry summer from late October to March/April is ideal. For perfect beach days, I aim for December through February.
  • My Recommended Luxury Resorts: One&Only Cape Town, 12 Apostles Hotel, and Ellerman House.

5. Hawaii, USA

There’s so much more here than just volcanoes and jungles! In my travels, I’ve found that Hawaii hides some of the most diverse beaches in the world. Some are dramatic, with powerful waves crashing against volcanic rock; others are so remote they’re only accessible by helicopter; and a few are so secret that only a handful of people know they exist. A gem awaits around every corner.

  • When to Go: The shoulder seasons of Spring (April to June) and Autumn (September to November) are perfect, offering great weather with fewer crowds.
  • My Recommended Luxury Resorts: Travaasa Hana, Andaz Maui, St Regis Princeville, Four Seasons Lana’i, Four Seasons Hualalai, Four Seasons Wailea, Fairmont Kea Lani, Halekulani, and Grand Wailea.

4. French Polynesia

A paradise of 118 islands, but one name stands above the rest… Bora Bora. Oh, Bora Bora! With its hypnotic lagoon and flawless white-sand beaches, it is the very image of tropical luxury. Those iconic overwater bungalows aren’t just a gimmick; they are an experience you simply have to live once in your lifetime.

  • When to Go: May to October is the dry season, though it’s also the busiest. The rainier season runs from November to April.
  • My Recommended Luxury Resorts: The St. Regis Bora Bora Resort, Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora, and InterContinental Bora Bora Resort Thalasso Spa.

3. Turks & Caicos

Here, the sea is an ethereal shade of turquoise and the sand is as fine as powder. The islands are surrounded by the world’s third-largest barrier reef. What I admire most is that, unlike many Caribbean destinations, Turks & Caicos has masterfully maintained its exclusivity, hosting a collection of truly ultra-luxurious resorts that feel a world away from everything.

  • When to Go: December to March is the dry, high season. For better prices and fewer people, I suggest April and May. Be wary of hurricane season from June to November.
  • My Recommended Luxury Resorts: Amanyara and COMO Parrot Cay.

2. The Maldives

The Maldives are, quite simply, another world. These tiny coral atolls emerging from the Indian Ocean are blessed with blindingly white beaches, breathtaking blue lagoons, and an underwater world that teems with life. The luxury resorts here have perfected the art of the private island escape. It’s the definition of paradise.

  • When to Go: January to April offers the best weather but is also peak season. The monsoon season runs from May to October.
  • My Recommended Luxury Resorts: Soneva Jani, One&Only Reethi Rah, Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru, Gili Lankanfushi, Naladhu Private Island, W Maldives, Six Senses Laamu, and Soneva Fushi, to name just a few!

1. The Seychelles

In my opinion, this is where Mother Nature did her finest work. These 115 islands in the Indian Ocean are an indescribable display of beauty: ribbons of soft, white sand lapped by turquoise waters, framed by palm-covered hills and giant, granite boulders that look as though they were sculpted by gods. In recent years, the opening of several ultra-luxe resorts has finally provided the level of accommodation this paradise deserves. For me, it is the undisputed number one.

  • When to Go: I find October and April to be perfect. They are transitional months with calm oceans and mild, beautiful weather. The dry season (May to September) can be a bit windy.
  • My Recommended Luxury Resorts: Six Senses Zil Pasyon, Four Seasons Resort Seychelles at Desroches Island, Raffles Praslin, Banyan Tree Seychelles, North Island, a Luxury Collection Resort, and Maia Luxury Resort & Spa.
